There are few modern day baseball players that seem to divide baseball fans like Alex Rodriguez in today’s game. He is known as a high-priced slugger, who hits the ball out of the park on a routine basis, but perhaps it is his attitude off the field or his high price tag that causes some fans to want to root against him. One thing is for sure, however, and that’s the fact that A-Rod, as he is known, may be one of the best sluggers in baseball, but he is also generous with his time and money off the field.

A-Rod had a bit of a tough start when the 2012 season started. There were many fans of the Yankees who were wondering if it might not be time for Rodriguez to hang up his glove. Over the past few seasons the Yankees had not been the team seemingly staffed by superheroes that it had been in times past. In fact, Rodriguez got hurt, again, during the 2011 season. However, these are the Yankees, and things never stay dull with them.

Now, the 2012 season is over for the New York Yankees. And while it is up to the fans to determine if A-Rod is a help or a hindrance to their cause, it is now time when Rodriguez focuses on his charities. And when it comes to charities, Alex Rodriguez likes to spread the wealth around.

A-Rod’s charity endeavors extend into the epic. One of his biggest charitable donations was to the University of Miami in the form of a $3.9 million gift. The money was used to renovate the university’s baseball stadium. Alex is an alumni of the University of Miami and is still a dedicated fan, often attending Miami Hurricanes games. His donation has led the university to name the newly renovated stadium the “Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.”

That’s hardly the extent of his charitable work. Alex Rodriguez is also well known as an owner of property across various cities that attempt to provide quality, low-cost housing to struggling families.

Alex supports a number of causes and supports charities that support those causes. He is a big supporter of fostering children and adopting children. He donates large amounts of money to charities such as Keep a Child Alive and UNICEF who provide medical support and other forms of assistance to children and families around the world.

Alex has also donated to HIV and AIDS research organizations. He has also been prominent in supporting charities that provide aide to those affected by disasters such as earthquakes, floods and other tragedies. Most of his charities focus on helping children and families with children, such as a recent event at the Miami Aquarium that helped support Ronald McDonald’s Charities.

So, whatever fans may think about Alex Rodriguez’s performance during the 2012 season and, in particular, the post-season, one thing is very certain. A- Rod is a man who likes to be generous with the things he has been given, and he has a soft spot for helping out kids around the world.!Technorati!Newsvine!Blogmarks!Yahoo!
